Yukie Xie is a 5th year business student at UNBSJ with a major in marketing. Yukie originally started as an animal science student but found a passion for business in her second year. Yukie is completing a work term with the Centre of Excellence through the department of education. Yukie and the Centre of Excellence currently have ConnexionWorks as their headquarters. Yukie is busy developing marketing materials, content editing, and website maintenance for the Centre of Excellence. Yukie also has a side hustle business where she is currently a certified consultant with Scentsy, as a homebased business.
Yukie has always wanted to work for the Centre of Excellence, with new funding she finally achieved her goal for her winter 2022 work term. Yukie spends her days at ConnexionWorks designing websites, creating curriculums, and is hands on learning video editing skills with a software called Premiere Pro. Within a short amount of time since starting Yukie has created three complete videos, within the short amount of time. An exciting development with the Centre of Excellence and Yukie’s skills has been the creation of a new Digital Marketing class.
Yukie says that she loves the space, as she grew up across the street and use to stop in on a regular basis. “ConnexionWorks can and will connect you with whatever you need” she said, “students can find so many useful resources here.” Overall, her co-workers support has been one of the most impactful experiences within the Centre of Excellence.
After Yukie finishes her work term and education, she is interested and plans to be involved in luxury car marketing. Yukie left us with this to say, “kids and students need to participate in programs such as the Centre of Excellence and the Idea Centre as it is a hands-on opportunity most do not get have!”
